Bodyguard (Hollywood A-List #2) by C.D. Reiss

Well-developed characters. A thrilling plot. Steamy sex scenes. Bodyguard (Hollywood A-List #2) by C.D. Reiss has it all, and it’s done well. Reiss’s writing style is to the point, setting scenes and bringing to life each character in a clear and concise manner. This is a fast-paced read that invites the reader inside a world that necessitates secrecy, state of the art electronic security, and well-trained, devoted bodyguards.

Emily is the choreographer for an A-List pop star, Darlene, who has been her best friend since school days. The two are as tight as sisters, caring and fighting with equal passion and often humor. With the expiration of a restraining order, Emily’s abusive ex-boyfriend begins to stalk her again, and Darlene assigns her own bodyguard, Carter, who is the best in his field, to Emily.

The attraction between Emily and Carter began way before his assignment to her. Despite Carter’s conflict—the fear that he can’t adequately protect a love interest—the two can’t fight their sizzling chemistry.

Carter’s family and the hinted mysterious past involving his son is a great side plot. I confess at times I felt more caught up in this side story than the main!

The climatic trip to Las Vegas ends a rollercoaster of a read, neatly tying up the main plot, subplots, character relationships, and giving a glimpse into the future of a choreographer who was destined to be much more.
