Review of Salty Beaches by Laci Paige πŸ“–

Salty Beaches by Laci Paige is a steamy ride of self-discovery. What I liked about this read is it was an accurate depiction of college fraternity and dorm life complete with the chaos and confusion of the many relationships (both friends and lovers) in such a short time. Aubry begins her freshman year with good intentions. Study. Make good grades. But partying becomes a lure when hot fraternity brothers Colton and Rod make a play for her. The allure of this story is that the popular soccer stars are just as confused about their feelings in the tug-a-war with Aubry.  Childhood friendships, enemies who become friends and a whole cast of characters are intertwined with soccer games, practice camps, and plenty of passion.

Review of ANOTHER POSTCARD BY Elle Christiansen πŸ“–

Another postcard by Elle Christensen centers on the relationship between the two main characters and the tour of the band Stone Butterfly. A traumatic childhood backstory lends a vulnerability to strong-willed heroine Brooklyn. Her inner strength is clear as she cares for her sister and settles in as a newcomer to Stone Butterfly. A suspenseful subplot plagues hero Levi and eventually serves as a climatic point between the couple. I had a hard time relating again to Levi when his hostility during a misunderstanding seemed to spring out of nowhere since his love--not just lust--for Brooklyn had been stated time and time again. I was glad Brooklyn didn’t forgive him easily, and by the time in this HEA when they made up, he’d redeemed himself some. The plot was well developed and cleanly executed--the only side trips were numerous steamy encounters between the two lead characters. If you love a good read generously layered with lengthy love scenes, feelings at first sight, strong heroines, and dirty talking-alpha-male heroes who later prove to have a heart of gold, then you won't be disappointed.

Brooklynn Hawk is an enigma. Highly sought after for her incredible voice, her talent shines bright in the studio. But a dark past and a secret she holds close to her heart keep her from permanently stepping into the limelight.
Until her favorite band offers her the chance to chase her dreams.

As the lead singer for rock sensation, Stone Butterfly, Levi Matthews is wary of bringing in new talent. But, he has heard just how amazing Brooklynn is and when the need for another singer arises, he’s confident that she is the perfect addition.

However, he doesn't count on laying his heart at her feet.

But the world of music can be as dangerous as it is thrilling. Joining Stone Butterfly on tour was hard enough for Brooklyn, but when she finally succumbs to Levi's charms, the rock 'n' roll life turns deadly.

Will Levi and Brooklynn keep their voices and their hearts entwined? Or will the music prove too hard to survive?

**Can be read as a standalone**

Picking DaisyPicking Daisy by Kimberly M. MillerMy rating: 4 of 5 stars

Picking Daisy by Kimberly M. Miller is an enjoyable and inspirational read.

The story centers on the relationship between Daisy, the musically talented heroine whose life experiences have changed her forever physically and left her mentally scarred, and hero Robby, a once successful musician who is spiraling toward rock bottom because of some bad choices.

What I loved about this story is the very gradual progression of friendship to romance. The subtle spark between these two feels real from the start and kindles awhile before flaming up. The dialogue, humorous, angsty, and touching, is always real.

One of the subplots weaved into the plot which served as a climatic point and conflict between Robby and Daisy threw me. The way the conflict came about had me wanting to swipe back several chapters but I didn't (so possibly this is my misunderstanding). It seemed to me the thing Daisy felt guilty for hiding from Robby and the betrayal Robby felt by not knowing was technically not even in existence. Can’t say more without spoilers, and maybe it was just me, but the wording seemed off as the “big hidden thing” was a past thing and the words used made it seem like a present thing.

Overall, I loved this one and recommend it to anyone who loves clean romance!

Secrets of the A-List (Episode 1 of 12) (A Secrets of the A-List Title)Secrets of the A-List (Episode 1 of 12) by Joss Wood
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Secrets of the A-List the first book in a serial type series is an engaging read from start to finish!

The Marshall family is a high-profile, prominent family in Los Angeles. Harrison Marshall, husband to Mariella Santiago-Marshall, and father to Luc, Rafe, and Elana is in critical condition following a car wreck. As each family member learns of the news and races to the ICU of the local hospital, their personalities and backstories are revealed bit by bit. Luc is a successful cosmetic surgeon, his father's pride and joy in all ways except one—he didn't go into the family business. He has a girlfriend although there are hints that he may not be faithful. Rafe is sensitive and artistic, and very much adored by his protective mother. Elana is the wild child of the bunch who couldn't even be bothered to answer or look at any of the dozens of messages from her family regarding her father while she is “busy”—with a man who his not her fiancΓ©. Gabe is Mariella's nephew who for most of his life was raised with the Marshall children, and went into the Marshall family business but seems to be resented by his cousins. Joe, a family friend and business partner is not much more than introduced in this installment, but hints suggest he will be an important character as the saga continues. Lingering in the shadows of the story is likely the most important character, The Fixer. This character sounds like he may be a fictional Howard Stricklin. I love ‘Ray Donovan’ the Showtime series, so The Fixer story playing into this twisted plot is intriguing. Even more curious are hints that the wreck may not be an accident and that The Fixer may be fixing more than he bargained for. I enjoyed this quick read and was happy to find that even though it is a serial, it didn’t end with a cliffhanger. The colorful cast of characters and the enthralling plot will entice a reader to the next in the series.
