Seal All Exits (Tangled Web #3) Jade C. Jamison

Heather Morrow has been fighting demons all her life, but the past two years have likely been her darkest.  So when her friend Katie invites her to a reunion of sorts, Heather jumps at the chance, because Katie, one of the most down-to-earth people Heather has ever called friend, is the only person she has ever felt like herself around, and Heather realizes that she needs an ally to help her out of the shadows.book bangs1
Kiefer Steele, vocalist for Shock Treatment, has been battling some demons of his own.  He’s been a nothing most of his life, but world-famous J.C. Gibson took him from his beach-combing, weed-smoking ways and helped him make something of himself…except life on the road has taken its toll.  The only ray of hope in his life has been his continuing online friendship with Heather.  The two met in person once, backstage at a concert, and their friendship has grown stronger.
They haven’t seen each other in three years, though, and both have changed immensely.
When they discover each other’s darkest secrets, will their friendship—and budding romance—survive, or are they destined to spend their lives apart…and alone?

They walked off the deck and Kiefer said, “So what did you want to talk about?”

“Hmm.  I’m not even sure where to start.”

“No pressure.”  Kiefer looked up toward the mountain across the road.  It was covered in evergreen trees and the sky above was a light blue, clean and clear.  He could see why Johnny wanted to live here.  Regular worries were gone, far and away, and it was like regular shit just didn’t matter.

Heather stopped walking, so Kiefer slowed and turned to face her.  “Um...I have a proposal for you.”

     He raised his eyebrow.  “Yeah?”

“Yeah.”  She drew in a deep breath and looked in his eyes, but he could tell it was hard for her.  “I, uh...I don’t want or need a relationship.  But I’m so glad you’re my friend.”

     Kiefer smiled.  “Ditto.”

“So...just so we can get it out of our systems...why don’t we, uh, explore our attraction, but...when we leave here, things go back to the way they were.”  Kiefer drew in a long, slow breath.  Was she saying what he thought she was?  “That sound okay?”

Honestly, no, it sounded like a copout.  He thought some of telling her that, but he wanted her.  He wanted her to continue to be a part of her life and he also wanted to step it up a notch after what they had experienced last night.  This might be his only chance to convince her that a more intense relationship could be a good thing.  So he nodded.  “Yeah.”  On impulse, he took her hand in his.  He wanted to start now.

Heather had other ideas, though.  “Not here.”  Kiefer couldn’t help the look of confusion that he knew appeared on his face.  She let go of his hand but got a little closer, almost as though she were afraid someone would be able to hear her.  “If we’re going to go back to the way things were after this week, then I don’t want to give anybody here any bright ideas, and I don’t want to answer any questions or deal with any looks.”

He nodded, saying nothing.  He could live with that.  And that also gave him several days to see what he could do to change her mind.

Jade C. Jamison was born and raised in Colorado, moved from one city/town to the next, and she’s decided she likes it so much she wants to stay…although travel is not out of the question.  She lives in a big town in Colorado (not unlike the fictional Winchester she writes so much about) with her husband and four children.  She is working on becoming a crazy cat lady.  Okay, so maybe not.

Still want more?  Jade has a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Theater, a master’s degree in English, and a master of fine arts in Creative Writing.  Obviously, she loves school and the student loan folks love her.  She works in human services by day, teaches English and creative writing at night, and—in between playing soccer mom and community leader—writes like a fiend.  Someday soon, she’ll narrow it down to just writing, but let’s get all those kids off to college first.

A Throwback Thursday Moment

Crack Books

Everyone can look back and think of that one book or series that was their book crack. The books that made them a junkie for reading. For me, that series was Trixie Belden. While all of my friends were going crazy over Sweet Valley High and Goosebumps, I was curled up in a beanbag chair next to my mom's library of books with a Trixie Belden read in my hand. The pages were beginning to yellow, the spines creaked, and the smell was musty. But none of that mattered as I remained engrossed in whatever shenanigans Trixie and her BFF Honey Wheeler were up to. Can't forget the hero of the series, Trixie's first crush, Jim Frayne--the penniless orphan who transformed into Christian Grey. Well in wealth anyway. Can't speak for fetishes, guess we'd need to ask a grown up Trixie! At least I hope somewhere after the series was over that Trixie and Jim had an elaborate wedding, an exotic honeymoon, and rode off into the sunset!

So looking back, what was your book crack?

No musty smells, the brand new paperback editions!

I may be one-clicking just to cure this nostalgia.

Nyema Norton is a child psychologist, a mother, a sister, a friend, amongst other things. She has always been the type to be there to listen if you needed it or give sage advice that helped others to improve upon their lives. She has known great loss. First, her sister, then the father of her child. As such, she has chosen to guard her heart against anyone outside of her family and inner circle of friends. Nyema is perceived as the one that has it all together. James Kenyon, architect, has always been the man with no desire to have a wife and/or family of his own. He applauds his best friend for stepping out and finding love, but he wants no parts of it. James had decided to assist a friend with having a child. A simple act of kindness, a freak accident and one phone call has his world spinning. What he doesn’t count on is a loss greater than one he ever thought to endure, a woman that changes his outlook and that very same woman possibly being the missing key to his healing. It helps that she has a precocious yet adorable kid, ta boot. What will happen when the two meet as counselor and patient? Will James be the breath of fresh air that she needs in order to be able to truly breathe? Will Nyema be the woman to cause him to be willing to commit to something, someone other than his company and employees?

The Norton Sisters Series is a series about six sisters that share the same last name, but are six entirely different women. The sisters by age ranking: Zoie, Wynter, Rayna, Nyema, Lynnia and Chyra are there for each other, always. They follow their own little "Norton Code": "In the end, family means everything and your sisters hold you up. No matter what may come."

A Note from the Author
I'm so excited to announce that Nyema, the third book in The Norton Sisters Series will be releasing on November 20th. Words cannot express just how much these sisters mean to me.

E. L. R. Jones is a self proclaimed eclectic author. She tends to write romance based novels, but they fall into different genres: contemporary, paranormal, mythological and erotic. She also has created short stories and poetry. In the near future, she hopes to release a children's book series. Ms. Jones incorporates all avenues of creativity into her works. E. L. R. Jones began writing when she was just beginning her teen years. A pen in hand meant she needed to vent words that she couldn't otherwise express. Living a life that was already filled with pain and heartache, Ms. Jones began writing poetry. The ability to release the barely contained emotions was enough to inspire her to take Creative Writing classes in college. Finding her stride with creative writing, she continued to write. E. L. R. Jones has put thought to page to amass quite a collection of work. Inspired by life and the dreams that press her to give "voice" to her characters, she is excited to bring her first work to fruition. There will be many to follow.

Excerpt

Taking my glass, he thrust both drinks aside, and his palms came to rest on my hips to pull me close. The hand snaking so familiarly under my shirt was cold from holding his drink, but it quickly warmed against the heat of my skin. Greedily, I couldn’t get enough of his kiss, and I found myself practically hanging on him in an effort to get even closer.
His hand splayed on my back, smashing our bodies together. Phase Two was all downhill from here, or rather down the hall. As I thought of my bedroom, some sanity returned. Five years ago, we had hooked up for the sake of hooking up. And tonight? Tonight I had phased sex into some devious plan. A plan that, not for the first time, felt weird and wrong.
“Jack?” I wedged a hand between us, and when he pulled back enough to warm my face with his inquiring gaze, I pulled in a fortifying breath. “You’re not seeing anyone?”
A myriad of emotions crossed his face, and one seemed to be annoyance. “I thought we just cleared this?”
An awkward silence stretched, and he still seemed exasperated with this line of questioning or maybe with the interruption.
And so I joked, “I’ve heard about rock stars. A woman in every city! I just don’t want to be your gulf coast girl.”
     “What are you asking, Marissa?”
Oh hell… What was I asking? Was I trying to define our relationship, right here, right now? Because what faster way to scare away someone like him? I was an idiot!
“I’m not asking anything,” I tried to salvage a shred of humility. “I just don’t want to go where this is going if you have a girlfriend. It’s wrong.”
Picking up his glass, he drained it. I had definitely killed the mood, and I was regretting it now. I was about to drink to my own stupidity when he dropped to my level again, speaking against my lips.
“I’m not seeing anyone. No woman in any city. No one.” His lips brushed mine as he spoke, and his gaze sank into my eyes. “Is there anything else you need to clear up in this kitchen before we move to the bedroom and fuck like it’s been five years since?”
Hypnotized by his words, and heated with his look, I could only shake my head in one small chin movement.
“Anything you want me to sign?” He pressed, as he pressed a kiss to my mouth, and when I smiled at the humor, he did too.
A touch of our tongues had us heating up fast, and within seconds, the past minutes fell away as if I had never cock-blocked myself.

New Release! Saving Charlie by Anne Conley

Book Blurb:  100,000 children are sexually trafficked every year in the US.  In the 1990s, Charlie was one of those children.  She’s spent her adult life getting past that, trying to become a successful business owner in Serendipity, TX.   Relationships are not goals for her.  In fact, she’s not even sure she has what it takes to be a part of one.

Les is a fool for love.  All he’s ever wanted was a girl.  Now that every last one of his friends are married, and in happy relationships with families, he can’t stop thinking about the sexy lady who sells house parts, even if everything about her screams at him to stay away.  He just can’t.

When they are thrown together on a cross-country road trip, Charlie’s past comes back to her full-force, long-buried memories inundating her.  Les seems to be the only thing grounding her to the present, when everything else seems to be trying to tear her apart.
While it has a HEA, the road getting there is long, rough, and dark.  Enjoy the ride.

Excerpt:

He was a fool for love--had been in love with nearly every woman he’d ever met--and had never really had a serious relationship.  He’d had a couple of seriously one-sided ones, but nothing ever stuck.  Sweetness wouldn’t be any different.
But she just might come and work for him, if he could get the price right.
He dialed her number and listened to it ring.
“Charlie’s Recycled Restoration, can I help you?”  Her sweet, throaty voice screamed sex at him, and he shifted in his seat to accompany the sudden tightness in his pants.
       “Hey there, Sweetness.”
“Hey, Les.  Did your clients like any of the molding?”
“Yeah, I’ll be out later today to pick it up, but I was calling about something else.”
“Oh yeah?”  Her voice lowered an octave, and Les had to control the urge to start talking dirty. That wasn’t really his bag, but something about this woman made him think all sorts of inappropriate thoughts.
“How would you like to come over to the dark side…?”
       “Excuse me?”
“How much is Charlie paying you?  I’ll double it if you come work for me.  I need someone with your knowledge and aptitude to help me.  And you’re good with organization and numbers.  Come on, please?”
“I don’t think so, Les.  I’ve got a really good gig here.”  He could hear her laughing, and it stung a little, but he was nothing if not persistent.
“What, are there benefits I’m not aware of?”
“You could say so, yes.”  She sounded cagey, but still playful, so he decided to play along.
“I can tack on some extra benefits, Sweetness.  You just name it.”  Her breath caught on that line, so he continued.  At some point, he probably shouldn’t have, but he couldn’t stop himself.  The husky timbre of his voice gave his intentions away.  “I got all sorts of benefits in mind for you, Sweetness.”
“I’m sure your benefits are…amazing.”  She was breathless, and Les did a fist pump in the air in spite of himself.  “But I really can’t.”

He wilted a little, but remained confident persistence would pay off in the long run.  “Think about it, the offer’s open.”  Defeated, he ended the call with the promise of seeing her that afternoon.  He’d try to time it so her boyfriend wasn’t there.  Maybe he could illustrate the benefits he had in mind.

MEETTHEAUTHORS
elizabethhayes
So you want to know a little about me and get a sense of who I am. Well the first thing I can say is that I absolutely hate talking about myself. So bare with me as I let you in on who I am.
My name is Elizabeth Hayes and I am from the Midwest. I have a few things I just happen to obsess over those include Hot pink and Zebra print, Unicorns, and cupcakes, and Books, I love to read and get lost in a book. I have thought about writing for a long time now and finally started to put words down. Ashlee and I are both new at this and our first book Finding Salvation is going to be thrown out there for you all to read. I must say I am having a hard time with this. I am the type of person that likes to know the outcome before I do anything. I want to know that this is going loved by most of you. The thing is I know that this book is going to be hopefully liked by some, hopefully loved by some, hated by some and just ok to some and I think I am finally ok with that. I am stepping out of my comfort zone. I hear that is a good thing. But with everything time will tell. So there you go! If you want to know more just ask.
Image12
Born to an Italian Mother and Filipino father, she grew up with a book in hand. Ashlee found her writing bug early on as a young child. Writing short stories and vignettes for fun.
As she got older she found herself immersed in a passion for reading again. It was the book Fifty Shades of Grey that brought a renowned love for the written word. Swallowing every book she could get her hands on while befriending Authors and eventually becoming a beta reader and helping Authors work out critical scenes and help with plot progression. What stemmed from two women with and idea, gave way to the story Finding Salvation. Being friends with Elizabeth Hayes is unlike any other friendship she's had. They laugh at the same things, their ideas mirror one another at the same time their brains seem to work hand in hand. Elizabeth once told Ashlee that we needed a great story, unlike anything that's been written, something that follows real life than fantasy. In truth, Finding Salvation isn't the lives that Elizabeth & Ashlee have lived. But they are bits and pieces of lives, others have had. And they're not afraid to show how the other half lives. Ashlee's a mother of three, works very hard to keep them happy even though it doesn't take much. And one day hopes to tell the world the story about Nine times in one night. <3
